Ritzville Chamber seeking grand marshal nominations for community parade

The Ritzville Area Chamber of Commerce board members are seeking nominations for a family, couple or individual to serve as grand marshal for the annual Ritzville Community Parade on Sept. 1. The deadline for nominations is Aug. 17.

The criteria is the individuals must have made a significant impact or contribution to the Ritzville community. Nominations may be submitted by youth 16 years old or older, individuals, businesses, agencies or civic organizations from Ritzville.

To be selected as grand marshals, nominees must be born, raised or contributed their time, talents or gifts to the community of Ritzville. All nominations must be made on an official Ritzville Chamber form, available at Ritzville City Hall.

Any individual who has served in the military or for veterans organizations will be considered.

The nominee should complete activities above and beyond their profession or normal call of duty. The nominee needs to be of good standing and have a commitment for volunteerism and community service.

The nominee must be willing to serve in the role of grand marshal and need to be at least 18 years of age.

Areas of consideration include community service, personal accomplishments or awards, length of time living in the community, personal deeds and dedication to the community.

Chamber board members, along with their spouses and children, are not eligible for nomination. Previous grand marshals are also ineligible.

The Chamber board has the right to select a grand marshal who was not submitted through the nomination process.

All nomination forms must provide information regarding the degree of impact of contributions made. All nominations received after Aug. 17 will not be considered.

Nomination forms can be mailed to PO Box 122, Ritzville WA 99169 or in person at Ritzville City Hall.
