The City of Ritzville recently presented a draft of the Six Year Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) for 2019 through 2024 at the June 19 Ritzville City Council meeting.
The 2019-2024 TIP includes seven priority road improvement projects.
The first priority is the third phase of the First Avenue project. The work includes a deep patch and overlay of a portion of First Avenue, from Division Street to Palouse Street.
The estimated cost for the project is $253,000.
The second priority project is a reconstruction of road and sidewalks on Weber Road and Galbreath Way, from Jackson Street to Fairway Avenue. The estimated cost of the project is $800,000.
The next project is pavement preservation on Main Avenue from the western city limits to Adams Street. The work will include chip seal and slurry seal. The construction cost estimate for the project is $58,716.
All three projects are scheduled for completion in 2020.
The fourth priority is the second phase of the Division South project. The work consists of roadway grind and overlay on a section of Division Street, from Sixth Avenue to Tenth Avenue.
It will also include sidewalks with ADA accessible features. Construction is set to begin in 2021 at a cost of $275,000.
The fifth priority is the first phase of the north Division Street project. Project details include roadway grind and overlay on Division from First Avenue to Alder Avenue.
The work will also include installing sidewalks with ADA ramps. The cost estimate of the project is $286,000 and is scheduled for 2022.
The sixth priority is phase three of the South Division project. The work will include roadway grind and overlay on Division Street from Tenth Avenue to Bauman Street.
The project will also include installing ADA accessible features, and construction is scheduled to begin in 2023. The estimated cost of the project is $220,000.
The final priority on the plan is the second phase of the north Division Street project from Alder Avenue to north of the city limits.
The estimated is $297,000 and construction for the project is scheduled for 2024. It includes roadway grind and overlay sidewalks with ADA accessible ramps.
The total estimated cost of all seven projects is $2,189,716. The proposed funding source for the projects is Washington State Transportation Improvement Board (TIB) grants, with the City providing local match.
City Council Member Scott Yaeger said applications for TIB grant funding are due in August.
A public hearing for the proposed 2019-2024 TIP is scheduled for the July 17 Ritzville City Council meeting.
