County Commissioners approve wireless control door system

The Adams County Board of Commissioners approved a proposal from Camtek Inc., to install a wireless access control door system for the courthouse, at the June 25 meeting.

The proposal is for $34,063.88, plus sales tax. Public Works Director Todd O’Brien said the Public Works Department has the funds budgeted for the project.

The scope of work will include installing a wireless door access system using proximity cards to all of the main office doors in the courthouse.

O’Brien said crews will install handles on the doors in order to make them ADA compliant.

Each department supervisor will receive a key while employees will be issued key cards. The access for cards can be turned off if an employee quits or if they lose their assigned key.

O’Brien said the system has the capability to add more doors to the system in the future.

He added crews will not have to install a conduit for wiring, which will preserve the historical integrity of the building.
