Eastern Adams County's Only Independent Voice Since 1887
The Sixth Annual Wheatland Jackpot Show attracted nearly 20 youth exhibitors to the Wheat Land Communities’ Fairgrounds on May 26 to show their prospect steers and heifers.
Lind-Ritzville High School Senior Tara Tellefson had the grand champion steer at the show. Tellefson also earned the Champion Senior Showmanship and Overall Reserve Champion Showmanship awards.
Cody Davis of Rathdrum, Idaho, exhibited the reserve champion steer.
Following the champions in the steer classes, third place went to Ty Davis of Rathdrum; fourth to Alyssa Williams of Ritzville; fifth to Allyson Taylor of Hayden, Idaho; sixth to Caden McLean of Post Falls, Idaho; seventh to Alan Ballew of Post Falls; Anna Geddes of Connell; Trenton McLean of Post Falls; and 10th to Kale Cordill of Cheney.
In the heifer show, Kelly Cordill of Cheney exhibited the grand champion heifer. Elisha Wade of Moses Lake received reserve champion for her heifer.
Third place in the heifer show went to Tressa Wade of Moses Lake and Kale Cordill placed in fourth with his heifer.
Taylor was named the Champion Intermediate Showmanship award as well as the Overall Showmanship Champion award. The Reserve Champion Senior Showmanship award went to Caden McLean.
Davis earned the Reserve Intermediate Champion award at the event. In the Junior Showmanship contest, Williams earned Champion and Kale Cordill was named Reserve Champion.
At the Jackpot Show, exhibitors also participated in the Dixon Land and Livestock JV Club Calf Sale Futurity Class. First place went to Cody Davis, second to Ty Davis, third to Williams, fourth to Kelly Cordill, fifth to Lauren Curtis, sixth to London Curtis and seventh to David Jabaay.
