The Lind-Ritzville/Sprague track and field team hosted the NE 2B Sub District track meet in Ritzville on May 8, with multiple athletes earning the chance to move on to compete in the NE 2B District 7 track meet on May 18-19.
The LRS women’s team placed fifth with 70.25 points, and the men’s team placed 12th with 13 points.
The women’s team was led by seniors Rachel Schell, Rose Melville and Sierra Kiel, who will all be moving on to compete in Districts.
Melville posted another stellar performance, earning first place in both the 1600-meter and 3200-meter distance races, and also qualifying in the 800-meter race by placing fourth.
For the men’s team, Jack Anderson and Conrad Ziemer will both move on to represent the Broncos at Districts.
As a senior, Anderson will continue to compete in multiple events, for one last chance to qualify for State.
The NE 2B District 7 track meet will start with preliminary contests on May 18 at Central Valley High School, with the second day of competition being reserved for those who qualify for the finals.
