Eastern Adams County's Only Independent Voice Since 1887
The Lind-Ritzville FFA Chapter traveled to Pullman on May 9-12 to compete at the annual Washington State FFA Convention.
The chapter members participating at the State Level included both Lind-Ritzville High School and Lind-Ritzville Middle School students.
The Agronomy Team took first-place at Districts in March and advanced to State competition.
The State Agronomy contest was held prior to the State Convention and the LRHS Chapter secured a first-place finish. They will advance to the National FFA Convention in the fall. Team members include Devin Schafer, Abby Gering, Julia Klein, Alibama Rushing, Spencer Miller, Brinley Moore, Mason Brausen and Garrett Frederick.
Helping secure the team’s top score was Schafer, who took first in individual scoring, Gering who was seventh and Klein who was eighth.
The Soils team earned a second place finish, with team members Klein, Schafer, Abby Gering, Ellie Gering, Peyton Curtis and Camden Smith.
The Meats Evaluation team worked together to secure a third-place finish, with team members Frederick, Kiersten Witt, Nathan Naught, Bryce Hansen, Jay Harder and Morgan Brausen.
The Ag Communications team also took third in State, with team members Rachel Nygren, Ellie Gering, Katheran Gingrich and Brinley Moore. Nygren’s third-place in individual scoring helped secure the teams’ finish.
The Marketing Plan team took first place in District to advance to the State Convention where they finished fourth. Team members include Schafer, Klein and Linnea Shafer.
The LRMS Chapter’s Floriculture team placed seventh in March at the state contest with team members Amy Anderson, Taylor Galbreath, Alexis Melcher, Annika Holland and Raegan Snider.
LRMS Chapter members placed in the top eight for Quiz Bowl: Holland, Melcher, Amy Anderson and Lauren Miller.
The Food Science team also finished first at Districts, then advanced to State where they finished eighth. Team members include Rushing, Baylor Moore, Collette Nichols, Sydney Kinch and Mercedes Miller.
The Ag Sales team, who took first at Districts, competed at the State Convention with team members Abby Gering, Spencer Miller, Grace Greenwalt and Tara Tellefson.
The Ag Issues team finished second at Districts to compete at the State convention. Team members include Lacey Miller, Conrad Ziemer, Morgan Brausen, Ashlynn Norton and Brooke Koch.
Thomas Rosen, Andrea Novoa, Jordyn Fode and Hayley Rushing all competed as member of the Vet Science team.
LRMS Chapter members Jasmine Olson and Alexis Melcher took first place in the State Agriscience Fair in Puyallup and were recognized on stage at convention.
Amy Anderson placed second in her division at the Agriscience Fair.
For the LRMS Chapter, Nick Labes, Juan Reyes, Hayden Melcher and Cooper Miller competed in the First Year Member Team Blue contest and finished in the top 16 out of 82 teams.
Olson, Taylor Galbreath, Mia Rouleau and Mariah Frees competed in the First Year Member Team Gold contest and did not advance to the finals.
Rounding out the group of students competing at the State level was Angel Rodriguez in the Spanish Creed competition.
