Broncos golf team continues to improve

The Lind-Ritzville/Sprague Broncos boys and girls golf team ended April with two matches.

On April 17, The Broncos competed in a league contest hosted by Asotin at Quail Ridge Golf Course in Clarkston.

Spencer Gering and Morgan Brausen both finished with 94, while Dirk Dahlman hit a 106.

Ellie Gering led the Bronco girls with a 113. Molly Hane finished with a 139, while Taelor Umland hit a 140.

The Broncos competed in a nonleague match hosted by St. George’s at Deer Park Golf Club on April 23.

Spencer Gering led the LRS boys after he finished with a season best 86. Brausen hit a season best 88.

On the girls’ side, Ellie Gering finished with 106. Hane hit 136 and Umland shot 138, a season best for both athletes.

Head Coach Nick Weishaar said he is happy with the progress the athletes have made since the previous matches. He noted both Spencer Gering and Brausen continue to improve their overall game, while Ellie Gering is working on her short game to lower her scores in preparation for Sub-Districts.

Weishaar said both Hane and Umland are improving their game as well. He also commended their attitude and willingness to learn more about golf.

The Broncos competed in their final regular season tournament on May 1 at StoneRidge Golf Course in Blanchard, Idaho.
