Junior high, high school rodeo comes to Ritzville

The Ritzville Rodeo Arena will serve as the center of rodeo competition on April 27-29. Colville is renting the Ritzville facilities to host a junior high and high school rodeo contest.

Rodeo action begin at 5 p.m. on Friday, April 27, with junior high contestants. The Friday night event is expected to last two hours.

Junior high competition continues Saturday at 8 a.m., before high school competitors move into the arena around 11 a.m.

At the end of high school rodeo is the WPRA breakaway roping competition. There are currently 45 athletes registered to compete in breakaway.

Sunday morning begins with Cowboy Church at 7:45, and more high school rodeo action at 9 a.m. The contests are expected to conclude around noon.

Admission to the event is free, and the Ritzville Rodeo Association will have the concession stand open throughout the day, including for breakfast.
