Robert (Bob) Schultz

Robert (Bob) Schultz died in the late afternoon on Sunday, March 4, while resting peacefully at the family farm where he was born and raised. He was born to Adolph and Lydia Schultz, also of Harrington.

Robert is survived by his wife Vivienne of 68 years, son Randy (Myra) Schultz, daughter Marita (Ed) Moriarity, son Rick (Juanita) Schultz, sister Lois Rogers, and many loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family, and friend to everyone he met.

In his 88 years, he learned and passed on his knowledge to many, never burned a bridge, and was always the last one to leave a gathering.

For all who knew him, he was an avid sportsman, from his early years working on hot roads and stock cars, to hydroplanes and most recently following and supporting his grandkids, great-grandkids, nieces and nephews in their activities and racing.

With Bob’s passion for sports and his competitive spirit he never met a racecar or engine he couldn’t make go just a little faster.

The family said it’s impossible to speak of our father without also speaking of our mother, because they were one. Together, they showed us what true love was like, the importance of family, and always being there for each other.

A continued celebration of his life will be held on Monday, March 19, at the Strate Funeral Home Chapel, 505 10th Street in Davenport, at 1 p.m. Burial will take place at the Harrington Cemetery, followed by gathering (location to be announced at the celebration of Bob’s life) in Harrington.

Flowers can be sent, or contributions can be made, in tribute to Robert’s life to the Harrington Athletic Booster Club, to help others enjoy what he spent his life doing: cheering on his own kids and generations of other young student athletes as they, too, follow their passion.

Strate Funeral Home is caring for Shultz family. An online guest book is available at http://www.stratefuneralhome.com.
