WEBELOS HIKE

WEBELOS HIKE. On Saturday, Feb 24, the Ritzville Cub Scout pack 73 Webelos 1 den completed a four-mile trek on Mt. Spokane. The Webelos on the hike were Sebastien Bonita, Micah Verhey, Hesston Vasquez, Cameron Lawson, Henry McRae and Eric Klewin. For the Build It badge, the 10-year olds spent three meeting courses building their own snowshoes out of PVC pipe and supplies donated by Ritzville Hardware. The culmination of the project rolled towards earning the Into The Woods badge. Scouts hiked through six feet of snow about two miles and gained 700 feet of elevation to the Bald Knob picnic shelter. At the shelter, they ate a sack lunch and practiced lighting an emergency fire. Deteriorating weather forced a quick turnaround back down the mountain. -Photo courtesy of Jennifer Verhey
