Ethel Leona Krug

Ethel Leona Krug, 94, of Othello, died on Feb. 15. She was born in Lincoln, Washington, on April 14, 1923.

Ethel graduated from Edwall High School’s class of 1940. She was married to Edward J. Krug on Sept. 28, 1941.

Together they raised three children and enjoyed 63 years of marriage. Edward died on Oct. 9, 2004.

Ethel was involved with her community in many ways. She served on the Senior Long Term and Aging Board as well as receiving an accommodation from The Connell Heritage Museum.

Ethel was a member of Gideon Lutheran Church, Connell and an associate member of Pilgrim Lutheran Church, Othello. She had a passion for art, including oil, tole, and china painting.

She loved gardening, fishing, traveling, playing cards, P.E.O., baking and entertaining.

She is survived by her children: Roger Krug of Othello, Linda (Harry) Cougher of Meridian, Idaho, and Glee (Royal) Johnson of Monmouth, Oregon. Ethel also leaves behind five grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews to cherish her loving memory.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, George and Meta Lave, her siblings: Florence Krug, George Lave, and Doris Hein, her grandson, Curtis Johnson and her nephew, Douglas Hein.

Ethel will be buried at 10 a.m., Friday, Feb. 23, at the Gideon Lutheran Cemetery near Connell. Following burial will be a memorial service at 11 a.m. at the Pilgrim Lutheran Church in Othello.

The family wishes to extend special thanks to the entire staff of Coventry House and her compassionate Assured Hospice team.
