Voters cast ballots for no increase of ECBID directors

The Directors of the East Columbia Basin Irrigation District (ECBID) completed the canvassing of the election results for the election held on Feb. 8.

This election was held to determine if the number of directors on the ECBID board should be increased from 5 to 7 directors, as requested by petition of the ECBID landowners.

The election occurred on Feb. 8 at the ECBID main office polling location. Landowners were also able to vote by absentee ballot. Results from the polling location were 223 votes to not increase from 5 to 7 directors and 14 votes to increase. Result of absentee ballots canvassed on Feb. 13 were 494 votes not to increase the director positions and 194 votes to increase.

The total vote for this election was 717 votes to not increase and 2018 votes to increase from 5 to 7 directors. Subsequently, the ECBID board will remain with five directors.
