Beef Fitting and Showing
In the FFA Division, Tara Tellefson received the grand champion ribbon, and Abby Gering was reserve champion. Also making it to finals and earning a blue ribbon were Bryce Esser and Alisha Baker.
In the 4-H division, Alyssa Williams was grand champion and Taylor Galbreath reserve champion. The finals also consisted of blue ribbon winners Blake Esser, Zoe Galbreath and Zach Klein.
In the open class, the blue ribbon recipients were Joel Klein, Maeve Korthuis, Raegan Korthuis, Addilynn McKay, Austyn McKay, Ava McKay and Landon Williams.
Spinning, Weaving and Wool
There were 26 entries in the spinning, weaving and wool department.
The Best of Class awards went to Niel Kieralff for alpaca yard and alpaca woven scarf, Hope Hopkins for felted bag and Christine Simonen for woven rug. The Special Merit awards went to Connie Schlosser for felted bag and Linda Curtis for a vest.
Woodworking
In the woodworking department, there were three open youth entries and four adult entries. The Best of Show award went to Camron Olson for his pig.
Antique Machinery
Antique Machinery had 13 entries in the department.
The Best of Show award went to Trish McRae for Allis-Chalmers Model G. The Best of Class awards went to Jim Cobb for his Wade Drag Saw and Fairbanks Morse 3-horsepower.
Arts and Crafts – Adults
In the adults arts and crafts department, there were 23 entries. The Best of Show award went to Jenni Wyma for stained glass, and the Best of Class went to Derrick Miller for a citrine ring.
Baking
There were 65 entries in the baking department, consisting of 31 open youth entries and 34 adult entries.
The Best of Show youth award went to Karsten Stokoe for his chocolate zucchini cake, and the Best of Show adult awards went to Loretta Walker for orange rolls.
The Baking Queen award also went to Walker.
Quilts
In the quilt department, there were 96 entries, including one open youth entry.
The Best of Show awards went to JoRene Zumdahl for her garden quilt, and Alexis Melcher for her blue tied six-all quilt. The Best of Class awards went to JoRene Zumdahl for garden quilt, Linda Reimer for medallion quilt, Beth North for horse tablerunner and vintage baby quilt, Marge Schoessler for mariners compass and flannel/denine raw edge, Yvonne Anderson for cat fancy and Donna Koch for a purse.
The Special Merit awards went to Reimer for All Inked Up, Zumdahl for snowman wall hanging, Sandy Atkinson for counterpoint, Darcia Dugger for baby quilt, Sue Sackmann for First Crush, Koch for Frosted Jewels, Zumdahl for a pillow, and PJ Jacobsen for jean quilt.
Reimer received first place for the Washington State Quilter and Inland Empire Machine Quilters award for her medallion quilt. Koch received second place for Faceted Jewels in the state contest.
Fruits and Vegetables
In the fruit and vegetables department, there were 68 youth entries and 78 adult entries, for a total of 146 entrants.
The Best of Show award went to Alexis Melcher for round head cabbage. Best of Class awards went to Shirley Roth for blackberries, Jeff Ash for mini white pickling cucumbers and the Boness brothers for “Jeff” the Creature Feature.
The Special Merit awards went to Melcher for peanut gourd, Irene Rosenoff for large assorted vegetable basket, Amelia Clark for pineapple and Ash for the largest zucchini.
Dog Show
There were two entrants in the dog show. Best of Show went to Beth North with her dog JC, and Best of Class went to Vanessa Keeling for her dog Pepper.
4-H Fashion Revue
There were 18 4-H fashion revue entrants, and three received Special Merits. The winners were Aubree Sitton, Lien Hoa Hollenback and Melanie Spivey.
Rabbits and Poultry
There were 24 entries in the rabbits and poultry department, including 17 adult entries, one FFA entry and six 4-H entries. Best of Show awards went to Vanessa Keeley in rabbits and Madi Swift for her rooster.
The Best of Breed awards went to Keeley for two rabbits, Case McBride for rabbits and Henry McRae for guineas.
Special Merit went to Henry and Merit McRae for their educational posters.
4-H Record Books
There were 40 entries in the 4-H record books department. The Best of Show awards went to Zachary Klein, Blake Esser and Brianna Kin Kade.
Special Merits went to Alyssa Williams, Brenik Esser, Henry McRae, Lucas Sitton, Ella Greenwalt, Harlee Hennings, Wyatt Gordon-Miller and TanAn Hollenback.
Sheep and Goat – Fitting and Showing
In the FFA sheep contest, the grand champion was Nathan Naught and reserve champion was Aleycia Hamilton. In the 4-H sheep department, Brynne Nelson earned grand champion and Lexy Hamilton was reserve champion.
In the FFA goat contest, Thomas Rosen was grand champion and Alexis Melcher was reserve champion. For the 4-H contest, Emma Dennis was grand champion and Ben Dennis was reserve champion.
Sheep and Goat – Market
In the FFA sheep market class, the grand champion was Nathan Naught and reserve champion was Alibama Rushing. In the 4-H sheep contest, grand champion and reserve champion went to Brynne Nelson.
In the FFA goat contest, the grand champion was Thomas Rosen, and reserve champion was Alexis Melcher. In the 4-H market goats, Ben Dennis was grand and reserve champion.
Arts and Crafts – Youth
There were 179 entries in the youth arts and crafts department. The Best of Show award went to Elizabeth Flahavin for acrylic dog.
The Best of Class awards went to Alexis Melcher for oil crate and Lien Hoa Hollenback for ceramic cat. The Special Merit awards went to Kurtis Klein for hillside harvest and busy grain terminal, Connor Kelln for mini stone age axe, Olivia Robbins for cowboy, Elizabeth Flahavin for acrylic, Jayda Lobe for flower watercolor and Harper Lobe for puppy.
Food Preservation
There were six open youth entries and 69 adult entries in the food preservation department. The Best of Class award went to Elizabeth Flahavin for dill pickles.
Special Merit awards went to Aubree Sitton for dill pickles, Loretta Walker for orange marmalade, Irene Rosenoff for duck egg noodles and dry red chili peppers, Sally Graves for jalapeno tomato zucchini and Alice Weber for cucumber relish.
Clothing
In the clothing department, there were 20 entries. The Best of Show award went to Donna Koch for beaded blouse.
The Best of Class awards went to Rebecca Jensen for child’s coat and southern belle doll dress. The Special Merit awards went to Beth North for batick party dress and Koch for gold lamei dress.
Machine Stitching
The machine stitching department had six 4-H entries, five open youth entries and 54 adult entries. The Best of Show award went to Alexis Melcher for a tic tac toe game and Donna Koch for duffle bag.
The Best of Class awards went to Sue Franklin for three towels, Koch for pillowcases, Carla Jerue for placemats and pillowcases and Beth North for baby booties.
The machine stitching Special Merit winner were Carla Jerue for children’s book, Beth North for embroidered vest, JoRene Zumdahl for patriotic wall hanging, Pam Gering for starfish and Janette Hollenback for children’s book.
The Special Merit awards went to Alexis Melcher for cat collection, Halli Braswell for potholders, Kylie Frick for potholders, Jerue for children’s book, North for embroidered vest, JoRene Zumdahl for patriotic, Pam Gering for starfish, and Janette Hollenback for children’s book.
Horses
There were 66 4-H entries, 10 FFA entries, 168 youth entries and 38 adult entries for a total of 282 entrants in the horse department.
Brock Tracy received grand champion for bareback equitation and English pleasure, and reserve champion for western equitation, western pleasure and trail. Hailee Nozer was grand champion in walk/trot equitation and pleasure.
Ella Greenwalt was grand champion in western equitation, western pleasure and trail. Harlee Hennings was grand champion western pleasure and reserve champion for bareback equitation.
Colby Tracy received reserve champion in fitting and showing, English equitation, English pleasure, western equitation and trail. Esther Peterson received grand champion in fitting and showing, bareback equitation, English equitation, English pleasure, western equitation, western pleasure and trail.
Bri Cook received grand champion in fitting and showing, and reserve champion in bareback equitation, western equitation and western pleasure. Brianna Kin Kade received reserve champion in fitting and showing, and grand champion in bareback equitation, English equitation, English pleasure, western equitation, western pleasure and trail.
Rachel Nygren earned grand champion and the Elizabeth Hennings Memorial Trophy in fitting and showing, western equitation and pleasure. Julia Klein received reserve champion in fitting and showing.
Emma Hulett received reserve champion in western equitation and pleasure. Ashley Smith received reserve champion in English equitation, English pleasure, western equitation, command class and trail.
Dusti Kissler earned reserve champion in western pleasure, and grand champion halter mares, showmanship, English equitation and English pleasure. Jenny Brown received reserve champion in showmanship, and grand champion in western equitation, western pleasure, command class and trail.
In the open horse show, Case Brown earned grand champion in walk/trot pleasure and reserve champion in showmanship. Cashley Brown earned grand champion in halter – geldings, and Brock Tracy for grand champion in walk/trot equitation.
Kaylee Klein received grand champion for showmanship. Taytum Labes received reserve champion and the Autumn Memorial Traveling Trophy and reserve champion halter – geldings, and reserve champion walk/trot pleasure.
Judah Peterson received reserve champion in halter – mares, walk/trot equitation and trail. Bronc Hutsell received reserve champion in western equitation and grand champion in western pleasure.
Schell received grand champion in western equitation and trail, and reserve champion in western pleasure.
In gymkhana, Dove Blake and Harper Labes were the high point winners under 10. Colby Tracy was the high point winner in the 11-13 age group, and Rachel Schell in the 14-17 age group. Aimee Schell was the high point winner for adults.
Plants and Flowers
There were seven youth entries and 63 adult entrants in the Plants and Flowers department.
Best of Show and Best of Class went to Kim Schofstoll for Blue Hydrangea. Best of Class awards also went to Tessa Jantz for a rose, Marie Getiman for Anthurium, Karyn Allen for Easter Arrangement and Sunflowers.
The Special Merit awards went to Jim Tate for Pink Gladiolus, Joyce Preston for Pot of Geraniums and Rose, Eileen Miller for Rose, Allen for Pot of Impatiens, and Alexis Melcher for Boot with Succulents.
4-H and FFA Livestock Judging
In the Livestock Judging Contest, blue ribbons went to Alyssa Williams, Landon Williams, Alibama Rushing and Thomas Rosen.
Red ribbons were awarded to Taylor Galbreath, Zoe Galbreath, Reagan Snider and Maeve Korthius. White ribbons went to Jessa Hoeft, Alexis Melcher, Henry McRae, Zachary Crouse, Addilynn McKay and Reagan Korthius.
Swine – Market
In the Swine department, the 4-H market winners were Ella Greenwalt for grand champion and Brenik Esser for reserve champion. For the FFA market class, Zachary Crouse was grand champion and Sharon Anderson was reserve champion.
For the 4-H fitting and showing contest, Jayce Kelly was grand champion and Hayden Melcher was reserve champion. In the FFA fitting and showing contest, Amy Anderson was grand champion while Sharon Anderson was reserve champion.
Beef - Market

For goat Fitting and Showing, Thomas Rosen was named grand champion for FFA and Alexis Melcher was reserve champion. In the 4-H contest, Ben Dennis was grand champion and Bailey Dennis was reserve champion, while Emma Dennis and Camron Olson each received blue ribbons.
Douglas Olson received a blue ribbon in the Open contest.
4-H Department
There were 577 entries in the 4-H department.
TanAn Hollenback received Best of Show for dried mangos, candy dispenser and eclipse photo; Best of Class for octopus, tulips photo and green in desert; Special Merit for utility bowl; and the Outstanding Senior Still Life. Lucas Sitton received Best of Class for tin can robot, Mr. Buck, other love photo and Chinese Lantern Festival photo; Special Merit for Palouse Falls photo, collar photo and purple flower photo.
LienHoa Hollenback received Best of Show for dried mangos and paper Mache princess; Best of Class for dried lavender, decorated t-shirt, pillowcase, charcoal eye, candy dispenser, icy weeds photo, park through woods photo, sunrise on farm photo, geese photo and dragonfly photo; Special Merit for tulips, ripples in wind, tulip farm, and roses photos.
Mekinze Spivey received Best of Show for grain removal poster, s’mores, dress and hummingbird photo; Best of Class for strawberry jam, glue vase, dad on quad photo, wheat head photo and vacation album; Special Merit for felt doll shopping bag, which dad is real photo, amber waves of grain photo, hamster photo, old faithful photo and my crazy self photo; and she received the Outstanding Junior award.
Wyatt Gordon received Best of Show for harvest photo; Best of Class for Vegas photo, stormy clouds photo and Miss Paisy photo; Special Merit for angry sunset; and the Outstanding Intermediate Award.
Gemini Correll received Special Merit for sewing notebook and Outstanding Primary. Drake Gloyn earned Best of Class for sewing notebook, and Special Merit for prismatic steam bench and beach dog photo.
Meya Hamilton earned Special Merit for sheep blanket, and Lexy Hamilton received Best of Class for combine photo. Aubree Sitton earned Special Merit for t-shirt bag and apron.
Brielonna Cook received Best of Class for town square photo and Gizmo photo; and Special Merit for apron. Kile Noser earned Special Merit for apron and pillowcase.
Kaycie Nose received Best of Class for statue photo, and Special Merit for flowers photo and bow photo. Hailee Noser earned Special Merit for pillowcase and sunset photo.
Handiwork
There were two Open youth entries and 50 adult entrants in the Handiwork department.
Best of Show went to Carolyn Hodges for oval crochet doily, and Alexis Melcher received Best of Show youth for embroidered pillow. Best of Class went to Marie Gettmann for knit cowl-wool, Becky Strode for blue tatted lanyard and Donna Koch for picture embroidery.
Special Merit awards went to Hodges for crochet doily, Shirley Roth for baby afghan, Beth North for blue doily, JoRene Zumdahl for give thanks runner and reindeer pillow, and Koch for picture embroidery and ornament beading.
Model Kits
There were 54 entries in the Model Kits department. Best of Show went to Hayes Hennings for millennium falcon.
Best of Class went to Mariah Flowers for Lego friend palace, and Wyatt Gibler for pinewood derby car. Special Merit was awarded to Jackson Nichols for boot camp, Bennett Sackmann for ninjago, Ryan Erdman for red pillow, Holden Iverson for farming city and Aubrey Iverson for castle.
Photography
There were 20 youth entries and 116 adult entries in the Photography department. Best of Show was awarded to Ginger Richards for Purple Dew.
Best of Class went to Tracey Korthius for Forgotten and Maeve, and Morgane Roth for The Gang and I. Special Merits went to Stephanie Koch for Animal, Val Vissia for Red Sunflower, Tessa Jantz for Clam Bake Beach, Brittany Gordon for Disneyland, Kayla Portney for Peace, Kylie Fullmer for Portrait of the Third Kind, and Sarah Green for Ralston Sunrise.
Vendors
In the Vendors department, Adams County Noxious Weed Board received 925 points, Adams County Historical Society was awarded 875 points and Ritzville Library District No. 2 received 850 points.
Ag Machinery
In the Ag Machinery department, there were nine entries. Devin Schafer received Best of Show for Chevy pickup, and Special Merit for Polaris Axys and custom drift bike.
