The Adams County Board of Commissioners approved a resolution for the 2018-2023 Six-Year Transportation Improvement Plan during their Dec. 11 meeting.
Adams County Public Works Director Todd O’Brien and Adams County Engineer Scott Yaeger presented the plan to the commissioners during a public hearing.
The plan includes 12 projects in priority ranking order and funding has been secured for seven of them.
Priority No. 1 – The reconstruction of McManamon Bridge on McManamon Road. The cost of the project is $2,112,000 and funding was secured through the Bridge Replacement and Advisory Committee (BRAC) and the state Rural Arterial Program (RAP). Construction of the project is scheduled to begin in the fall of 2018 and be completed in the spring of 2019.
Priority No. 2 – The widening and resurfacing a 3.62-mile portion of Cunningham Road, from Lind-Hatton Road to Laurer Road. The total cost of the project is $1,169,000 million with funding secured through RAP and $311,100 through local funds. The project is scheduled to be finished in 2018.
Priority No. 3 – The McKinney/Thacker Road Safety Project. The project will consist of widening, grading, slope treatment and surfacing of a 1.64 mile stretch of road, from Bench Road to Thacker Road, as well as a portion of McKinney Road.
The cost of the project is $920,000, and is funded by the Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP) and local agencies. The project is scheduled to be completed in 2019.
Priority No. 4 – The widening and surfacing of a 2.97-mile portion of Deal Road, from Interstate 90 to Rosenoff Road. The project will cost $1,730,000 and funding was secured through Surface Transportation Program Rural (STPR) grants and local funds.
Priority No. 5 – Deal Project No. 1, which Yaeger said consists of drainage and surfacing of a 2.39-mile stretch of Deal Road from Leisle Road to Urquhart Road. The cost of the project is $1,105,000 and os funded through STPR and local dollars.
The work for both projects will begin in 2019 and finished in 2020.
Priority No. 6 – Widening and reconstructing of .89 miles of Atkinson Road from Sundance Road to State Route 24 with a project cost $600,000. The plan proposes to secure the funding through STPR and local agencies in 2020, which is when the project is scheduled to be completed.
Priority No. 7 – A widening and resurfacing of a .93-mile portion of Lind-Hatton Road South of SR 21. The cost of the project is $402,000 with funding secured from RAP and local funds.
Priority No. 8 – Widening and surfacing of a 2.65 mile stretch Cunningham Road from Lauer Road to Highway 395. The cost of the project is $1,035,000 with funding from RAP and local agencies.
Yaeger said funding for both projects is secured but is not available at this time. Both projects are scheduled to be finished in 2021.
Priority No. 9 – An overlay of a .93-mile portion of roadway from Lind-Hatton Road to Damon Road. The project cost is $1,585,000 with funding proposed from STPR and local funds. The project is scheduled to be completed in 2022.
Priority No. 10 – Deal Road Project No. 2, which consists of drainage and surfacing 2.8 miles of Deal Road from Lind-Warden Road to Rosenoff Road. The cost of the project is $1,250,000 with proposed funding from STPR and local agencies.
Priority No. 11 – Lind-Hatton Road Project No. 3. The work for this project consists of reconstructing and replacing the drainage structure of a 3.62-mile portion of Lind-Hatton Road at Damon Road. The cost of the project is over $2,163,000 and the plan includes a proposal to secure funding from RAP and local agencies.
Priority No. 12 – McKinney Road Project No. 1, which consists of reconstructing a 2.01-mile portion of McKinney Road from Hatton Road to Bench Road with a project cost $1,175,000. The plan proposes to acquire funding from RAP and local agencies.
All three projects are scheduled to be completed in 2023.
