Residents who are kicking off their holiday shopping after Thanksgiving, or have already started, may want to visit one or more local businesses for Small Business Saturday on Nov. 25.
Several local businesses will have their doors open for customers to buy gifts for their loved ones and other items.
Customers who browse through certain local stores may find holiday deals on select merchandise they normally would not find at any other time during the year.
Some stores may carry items on their shelves that shoppers will not find at businesses outside of the area, or may carry products that locals did not know were in stock locally.
While some merchants may not have deals on Small Business Saturday, but they will still appreciate customers who took time out of their shopping schedule to come into their store.
Local restaurants will open as well to serve people who want to have a meal, or just grab a bite to eat, in between their shopping.
Small Business Saturday not only allows shoppers a chance to save on the time and gas they would spend on traveling to major department stores outside of their community, but it also provides them the opportunity to support their favorite local businesses.
Buying merchandise from a local business helps it continue to operate and function. It also benefits the businesses owners and employees, many of whom are involved with community groups and organizations.
Some merchants also sponsor local athletics and other youth programs.
For residents who might be new to the community or people who are just visiting, Small Business Saturday is a chance for them to explore local businesses and potentially find a new favorite place to shop. They can also meet new people and build relationships.

Residents are encouraged to visit all local businesses that are open on Nov. 25 to show their support for small business owners.
