Burn ban lifted throughout county

The Adams County Fire Protection Districts in Lind and Ritzville have announced the burn ban has been lifted throughout the county as of Oct. 19.

Residents are reminded permits must still be obtained to burn, and city residents must follow the ordinances.

Adams County Fire Protection District No. 1 Scott Kembel said burning permits are available at Carpenter, McGuire and DeWulf, or Bob’s TV and Appliance in Ritzville.

Ritzville residents are reminded all fires must be attended during the day, and always contact dispatch before burning.

By contacting dispatch, it reduces the chance the fire department may be called for the burn.

Lind Fire Chief Kevin Starring reminded residents to not burn garbage, and all small fires must be monitored at all times. Any individual who has something larger to burn is asked to contact Starring at 650-7226.

All fires must be burned within a four-foot by four-foot, by three-foot tall burn pit. Only natural materials can be burned. Burning permits are not needed to burn within the city.
