PRESLEY O’BRIEN has a turn at using the fire truck’s spray nozzle on the Benge Fire Department’s vehicle while Adams County Fire District No. 6 Commissioner Chair Jerry Whitman assists her in operating the equipment.
Students at Benge Elementary School received a special visit from members of the Benge Fire Department on Sept. 27.
Benge Assistant Fire Chief Lenny Graves, Commission Chair Jerry Whitman and Volunteer Firefighter Paul Coon stopped at the school to meet the students and show off three of the department’s vehicles.
The vehicles included the 1997 Stewart Stevenson military truck the department received from Colorado Springs Air Force Base in April.
Graves also shared information with the students about department’s area of coverage and how they help the community.
