Roaring ’20s roll into Ritzville Sept. 30

Attendees of the 25th Annual East Adams County Healthcare Foundation Wine Tasting and Auction will take a step back in time during the festive event on Sept. 30. The theme will create a speakeasy environment, and will also encourage those attending to dress the part.

The annual event will be held at the C.J. Newland American Legion Memorial Hall in Ritzville; beginning at 6 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at the door for $30, or in advance at Ritzville Drug Company for $25.

Along with the festively themed evening, a full bar will be provided, as well as a diverse menu from Hungry Hound BBQ. The menu items include apple whiskey pork loin, red wine beef tips, bourbon chicken satays, moonshine grilled potatoes, beer butter mushrooms, elderflower tossed green salad, red wine garlic bread and a brandy chocolate fondue station.

Event coordinators are highly encouraging attendees to wear 1920s-style clothing to the event in order to add to the atmosphere, but dressing up is not required.

Dr. Warren Kragt is serving as the auctioneer and master of ceremonies for the event.

The event begins with an extensive silent auction that provides those in attendance with a variety of items to bid on. This year, the EACH Foundation has received a large amount of donations for the auction.

The live auction begins at 8 p.m. with an estimated 35 items available for purchase. Nearly 60 silent auction items are also available for purchase.

The auction items range from handmade items to trips throughout the Pacific Northwest. The wide array of donations also allows individuals to get a jump on their Christmas shopping by purchasing items that serve as great gifts.

The list of items includes a seven-day stay at the Lake Pend Oreille Resort, wine tours, brushless DeWalt string trimmer, half of a beef cut and wrapped, one-year of advertising in the business directory of the Ritzville Journal, multiple fall-themed baskets.

Door prizes will be distributed throughout the evening, and two new fundraising games have been added to the night’s festivities.

The first game will be the Holiday Treasure Chest, where players will have the opportunity to purchase a key that will potentially unlock the treasure chest.

The chest will be filled with prizes, including a one-night stay in the Premier Lake Tower room at the Coeur d’Alene Resort. It will also include a $100 dining credit at the resort restaurants, and two tickets to the Holiday Light Show Cruise.

The second game will be the Wall of Fun, and attendees are encouraged to sign up quickly, as there are a limited number of opportunities to play. The game includes a total of 20 punches, and each punch could be one of multiple prizes, including an expensive bottle of wine or a gift certificate for dinner downtown.

Every year, the EACH Foundation uses the funds raised at the auction to provide necessary upgrades for the hospital, clinic and the EMTs. The EACH Foundation received priority requests from each entity and does the best to provide them with the necessary equipment.

The EACH Foundation also provides two $1,000 Ronald W. Baumann Memorial scholarships annually to individuals pursuing a career in the medical field.

This is the sole fundraiser for the EACH Foundation, whose primary goals are to help serve Adams County Health District No. 2 and the residents of eastern Adams County.

EACH Foundation is a nonprofit organization and the funds raised at this event are spent inside the boundary of the health district.
