Five teachers join Lind-Ritzville Cooperative Schools staff: Allyssa Barnett

Five new full-time teachers joined the ranks of Lind-Ritzville Cooperative Schools this year.

Charlie Moffet, Kate Gantz and Morgan Walker currently teach at Ritzville Grade School. Allyssa Barnett joined the staff at Lind Elementary School and Christina Heater was hired at Lind-Ritzville Middle School.

Allyssa Barnett, who teaches fifth-grade, grew up in Walla Walla with her family, and currently lives in Spokane with her fiance.

Barnett attended EWU where she received her bachelor’s degree in elementary education with an endorsement in Spanish. She became a teacher because she wanted to make a difference in young people’s lives and teaching is a rewarding way of accomplishing her goal.

Prior to teaching at Lind Grade School, Barnett was a substitute teacher in the Spokane School District. She said she is looking forward to getting to know her students and developing a positive relationship with all of them.

In her spare time, Barnett likes to cook, bake, read and go hiking.
