John D. Shimek

John D. (Jack) Shimek, born in Pasco on April 28, 1928, died in Spokane on Aug. 15. One of four children born to John E. and Eunice Howton Shimek of Kahlotus, Jack spent most of his life on the family farm in Lind.

Graduating from high school in 1947, he attended trade school in Spokane where he met and married Clara Falco Shimek in 1948. They spent 34 years on the family farm, raising wheat, cattle, and four children.

While in Lind, Jack was actively involved in many local organizations where his leadership skills were put to good use.
