ECLIPSE VIEWERS

ECLIPSE VIEWERS. Across the City of Ritzville, residents stopped in their tracks and looked to the sky to view the solar eclipse on the morning of Aug. 21. The Ritzville Public Library hosted an Eclipse Viewing Party for the community, and also provided activities and snacks for those attending the event. Just as the eclipse began, (from left) Levi Hoeft, Heidi Harting, Dacota Friedlander, Lori Gorman and Brayden Kiel all looked to the sky through special eclipse glasses, supplied by the Ritzville Public Library. Pinhole cameras to view the eclipse were also available at the event. The viewing party ran from 9 a.m. until noon, and those attending experienced the 91 percent eclipse. During this time, the viewers experienced a slight drop in temperature, as well as the daylight steadily decreasing. -Journal photo by Katelin Davidson
