Small town hospitality appreciated

On Sunday, June 11, the Jawbones RV Travel Club of the Lewiston/Clarkston Valley (13 recreational vehicles and 25 people) motored through your town for a three-day campout at the Wheat Land Communities’ Fairgrounds.

As we pulled in, we were all pleased with our accommodations: green well-manicured grass, spacious hookups, building with a kitchen for our meetings and potlucks, walking trails, right price, and friendly and helpful groundskeepers Dan and Leslie.

Our members thoroughly enjoyed walking through your town and spotting statues, visiting your various shops and museums, and even partaking in a bite to eat and ice cream to boot.

A big thank you to your mayor for his welcoming letter, your shopkeepers who took the time to demonstrate or explain their products to us, or sell us a trinket of two, and your museum hosts who we found to be very informative and interesting.

We owe a big thank you to the Gerings, who, in passing, mentioned that we should come to Ritzville for our next campout. We checked it out and indeed it proved to be everything they said.

Our compliments to Ritzville’s people and community pride. You have a great little town where the trains carrying our nation’s commodities run through every hour on the hour, and in between too.

As we departed after breakfast on the fourth day, our RV members could no longer said, “We have always passed by but never taken the time to stop”.

Gary and Karen Bloomfield, Pullman
