Ritzville Police Department Reports

Feb. 25, 2:16 a.m. – Ritzville Police Department took Jacob Reeve, 27, of Lind into custody at First Avenue and Clark Street. Reeve was booked into the Adams County Jail for Driving While Under the Influence.

Feb. 26, 7:09 a.m. – A complainant on North Division Street reported an unlocked garden shed had been entered and numerous items stolen.

Feb. 26, 9:55 a.m. – A complainant reported two subjects entering a garage in an abandoned residence on Whittlesey Street. The officer made contact with the subjects who advised they had permission to be in the garage and they were cleaning the property for the owner. The owner of the residence advised the subjects did not have permission to be on the property. Marcus J. Chamberlain, 27, of Ritzville was placed under arrest for Second Degree Burglary. The second suspect, Kerry D. Tyler, 26, of Ritzville was placed under arrest at the scene. He failed to cooperate with the officer and fled the scene. Chamberlain was booked into the Adams County Jail for burglary. After several days Tyler turned himself in to the police and was booked into the Adams County Jail for Second Degree Burglary and Resisting Arrest.

Feb. 27, 1:23 p.m. – A complainant on Galbreath Way advised their tire had been slashed while at work. An officer responded and determined the tire had been blown out due to excessive wear.

Feb. 27, 1:35 p.m. – A complainant reported several battery cores had been stolen from their residence and located foot prints in the snow. An Adams County Sheriff’s deputy contacted the person of interest in the theft. The theft remains under investigation.

Feb. 27, 1:51 p.m. –

A complainant on Galbreath Way reported an abandoned vehicle in the business’ parking lot. Officers were unable to make contact with the registered owner and the complainant was advised they could have the vehicle impounded.

Feb. 27, 2:29 p.m. – A complainant on Alder and Palouse reported an open back door of a vacant residence. An officer responded and was unable to locate anyone on the property.

Feb. 27, 5:28 p.m. – An officer responded to a residential alarm on the 200 block of west Fourth. The officer determined the alarm was due to the screen door opening from the wind.

Feb. 27, 8:24 p.m. –

An officer responded to a report of a domestic violence assault in progress on south Adams Street, an requested assistance from an Adams County Sheriff’s Deputy. After a short investigation took place it was determined there was probable cause to arrest Ryan T. Spencer, 31, of Ritzville. Spencer was placed under arrest for Assault in the Fourth Degree under the Domestic Violence Protection Act and was booked into the Adams County Jail.

Feb. 28, 1:56 p.m. – A complainant reported a stolen air compressor valued at $150.

Feb. 28, 2:12 p.m. – A complainant at east Alder Avenue advised someone had tried to break into a smoke house. They reported nothing was stolen and the lock had been reattached.

Feb. 28, 7:06 p.m.- An officer located and recovered several items of stolen property following a previous reported burglary. The items were returned to the owner.

Feb. 28, 7:59 p.m. –

A complainant on the 100 block east of Second Avenue reported someone trying to kick in the front door. Three officers responded and arrested Marcus J. Chamberlain of Ritzville for Disorderly Conduct under the Domestic Violence Protection Act. He was booked into the Adams County Jail.

March 1, 3:17 a.m. –

A complainant on Galbreath Way reported a subject wanted by the Ritzville Police Department driving a vehicle registered to subjects residing south of Ritzville. The area was checked and the subject was not located. The information was given to the sheriff’s office to pass on to the deputies working the area.

March 1, 4:30 a.m. – A complainant requested additional patrols in the area of north Grant Road due to an unfamiliar vehicle being parked in the area. The vehicle was located and registered to a property owner in the 600 block of west Main Avenue.

March 1, 8:30 a.m. – A complainant on the 200 block of south Washington reported a car prowl occurring between Feb. 28 and March 1. No items were reported stolen but the complainant requested additional patrols in the area.

March 1, 1 p.m. – A complainant reported the lock had been cut off their storage unit in the 100 block of south Jefferson. A black backpack with burglar tools located near the storage units was taken to the police department to be dusted for prints. The complainant did not report any items as stolen originally, but called back to report multiple stolen items. A business in the area was contacted and asked if they had observed any suspicious activity at the time of the burglary. The employees had not seen anyone in the area.

March 1, 9:04 p.m. –

A subject advised they are tearing down the old Meat Block building and they will be leaving some vehicles parked near the building for the next month during the demolition. The subject advised gas had been stolen out of a wheat truck along with some brass door rails. The subject requested additional patrols in the evening hours.

March 2, 11:38 a.m. –

A vehicle and a large freezer were observed blocking the sidewalk near a garage at the 100 block west of Sixth Avenue. The property owner was requested to move the items off the sidewalk. The owner advised he would contact the renters and request they move the items.

March 2, 12:42 p.m. –

A complaintant advised of a two-car collison in a parking lot on Galbreath Way earlier in the morning. The complainant was advised no collision reports were completed on private property. An officer responded.

March 2, 2:15 p.m.- A standby was requested in the 400 block of south Adams Street so a subject with a restraining order could retrieve a trailer parked at the residence. The standby was completed without incident.
