Eastern Adams County's Only Independent Voice Since 1887
The Lind Town Council discussed scheduling a public meeting for community members to voice their opinions about the marijuana moratorium during the regular meeting on Tuesday, June 13.
Mayor Jamie Schmunk said she contacted Adams County Commissioner John Marshall and Adams County Economic Development Director Stephen McFadden about participating in the meeting to provide information on the county’s rules and regulations for the marijuana industry.
She said they would schedule a day in the near future to hold the meeting when they both can be present.
Schmunk informed they will be submitting a final reimbursement request to the United States Department of Agriculture for the remaining $14,000 in grant money the Town received for the Waterline Project.
After the project was completed, the Town had $95,000 remaining, which they used to fund the new radio water meters, she explained.
Schmunk met with members of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) about repairing roads that were damaged during the winter. FEMA will be taking measurements and collecting data on the roads, she explained.
The Council then went into an executive session regarding information on litigation.
After executive session, Councilmember Paula Bell stated she received multiple complaints from residents about the recent water bill.
Schmunk said the complaints have been addressed and they are reading the meters daily to see if they are related to the installation of the new meters.
She said residents have discovered multiple breaks in water lines, especially for irrigation, which also may be related to the increased bill amount.
