Ritzville Water Park opens for summer season

The Ritzville Water Park Staff are preparing for the summer season after hosting a grand opening on Saturday, June 10.

Manager Natalie McKinney said they are looking forward to a successful summer with a variety of classes and events planned for community members.

McKinney said she is excited for the summer season and she hopes to see an increase in attendance this year. As manager, she will be in charge of coordinating pool events and instructing some of the swimming lessons.

Starting on Thursday, June 15, the pool will be offering “Tween Nights” every other Thursday from 8-10 p.m. for ages 9-14.

Community members will have the opportunity to participate in water aerobics starting June 19, during adult swim hour. Adult swim hour is daily from 5-6 p.m. and a lap lane will be available during the hour, said McKinney.

The facility will also be offering swimming lessons in four, two-week sessions. The first session begins on June 19 and ends on June 30. The second session will be from July 10-21.

The third session of swim lessons will begin on July 24 and end on Aug. 4. The final session will run from Aug. 7-18.

To encourage families to use the facility, the pool will be offering a “Mommy and Me” class during the summer for levels one through six.

The facility’s staff and lifeguards recently participated in a lifeguard-training course to become certified for their positions. The course allowed them to ensure community members’ safety while enjoying the pool.

McKinney said professionalism is top priority for the staff and she anticipates improvement in overall organization for the summer season.

A variety of snacks and beverages are available at the concession stand, which will be open from 12:30 to 5:15 p.m. and reopen from 6:15 to 8 p.m.

McKinney said the pool is available to reserve for private parties based on need. To contact the pool about reserving the facility, call 659-1003.

The water park hours will be daily from 12 -8 p.m.
