Eastern Adams County's Only Independent Voice Since 1887
The Lind-Ritzville/Sprague track and field athletes who qualified for the State Championships in Cheney, made sure to compete to capture a place on the podium on May 26-27.
The group of six competing athletes took home four top finishes during the two-day meet at Eastern Washington University.
Together, the six female athletes scored 12 points and placed 16th in the state.
Senior Kallie Harder earned the highest placing of the day. She placed fifth in the discus competition with a throw of 108-00.
Harder has competed at the state meet for four consecutive years.
Also in her final year at the State Championships, Felicia Ziemer netted a sixth place finish in the 400-meter race.
She also ran a leg of the 4x100-meter and 4x200-meter relays, but both teams did not advance from preliminaries.
Rachel Schell also recorded a sixth place finish in the 100-meter sprint.
Rounding out the successes of the State Championships was Sierra Kiel, who claimed a sixth place finish in the high jump with a height of 4-10.
