Rose Melville will continue her run to earn the 2B singles title at the State Tennis Tournament in Yakima on May 26-27. Melville is the sole Bronco advancing to the tournament, following a tremendous performance in Regionals.
At the Regional Tournament, Melville defeated a Chewelah opponent 6-1, 6-0 to continue on in the tournament. She then went on to earn a 6-1, 6-0 victory in the second round against a Deer Park competitor.
In the final match, Melville came from behind to earn the final win and qualify for the State Tournament. Melville lost the first set 4-6 against Lauren Senske of St. George’s, and then battled back to win the next two sets: 6-3, 6-1.
Melville is expected to have a long line of tough competitors at the State Tournament in Yakima, but she received a good draw and is expected to compete into the second day of the tournament.
