LRS track continues to state championships

The Lind-Ritzville/Sprague track and field team has eight athletes continuing on to represent the Broncos at the State Championships, following successful performances in the NE 2B District 7 Championships on May 19-20.

The eight female athletes will compete in the State Championships at Eastern Washington University on May 26-27.

The LRS women’s team placed sixth at the meet with 47 points.

Rachel Schell qualified for State as a member of the 4x100-meter and 4x200-meter relay teams. She also is competing individually in the 100-meter and 200-meter races at State.

Joining Schell on the relay teams are Felicia Ziemer, Brooke Koch and Kierstin Witt. Erica Leffel and Rachel Nygren will travel with the team to State as alternates.

Individually, Kallie Harder is returning to State for the fourth time to compete in discus.

Sierra Kiel will also be making the journey to compete in the 100-meter hurdles and high jump.
