Molly Schmidt, 111, was born July 22, 1905, in Stony Plain, Alberta, 25 miles west of Edmonton to William Krause and Margaret Schultz Krause. She came from a family of 22 children: 10 half brothers and sisters, and 11 sisters and brothers.
In 1923, at the age of 18, she moved to the United States with her family and settled in Chehalis. In 1927 Molly married George Stohr and together they had two sons: George and Donald. Her husband died in 1943.
In December 1945, she married Albert Schmidt and had one son, Charles Schmidt on Nov. 15, 1946.
Molly was preceded in death by her father: William Krause; mother: Margaret Krause; husband: Albert Schmidt; son: George Stohr; grandson: Donald Stohr (baby) and all of her brothers and sisters, as well as many of her nieces and nephews.
She is survived by, sons; Donald (Beverly) Stohr and Charles (Faye) Schmidt: four granddaughters; Claudia Stratton, Dennise Buffington, Michelle Noyer and Nicole Miller; 11 great grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews, all who were very dear to her along with a host of friends.
She was a member of: Emmanuel Lutheran church, where she taught Sunday school for many years, The Hope Tabitha Circle, The Ritzville Sunshine Grandmothers Club, The American Legion Aux. and Eagles Aux.
Her hobbies included quilting, crocheting, and knitting. She made over 100 quilts and gave them away. She loved to travel, especially enjoying the trips with Pastor Lester and Pastor Kate.
Visitation will be at Danekas Funeral Home in Ritzville on Tuesday, May 16, from 12-5 p.m. Funeral services will be at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Ritzville at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, May 17, with burial following at Emmanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Ritzville.
