Ritzville’s oldest resident, Schmidt, dies at 111

At the age of 111, Ritzville is now saying good-bye to the oldest resident following her passing on May 8.

Molly Schmidt, originally born in Canada, has served as the community’s oldest resident for countless years.

She was born on July 22, 1905.

At the time of her death, she was not only the city’s oldest resident, but also the oldest citizen in the state of Washington.

She was also the ninth oldest living supercentenarian in the United States.

Schmidt’s funeral services will be announced at a later date. Danekas Funeral Home and Crematory is entrusted with the arrangements.
