The annual Wampum auction to benefit the Wheat Land Communities’ Fair is scheduled Saturday, April 29.
The family-friendly event provides an opportunity for community members to gather together and spend a night supporting the local fair by bidding on auction items and enjoying a catered meal.
The doors open with social hour and silent auction at 6 p.m. in the Knuth Building at the fairgrounds, followed by a meal catered by Memories Diner at 6:30 p.m.
The meal includes pork chops with sautéed mushrooms in gravy, lasagna, garlic mashed potatoes with brown gravy, glazed carrots, corn, peppers, Caesar salad, tropical fruit salad, rolls, assorted cupcakes, water and iced tea.
A full bar is also available at the event.
Jerry Snyder and Warren Kragt will take center stage as auctioneers for the evening after the meal, and will be joined by WLCF president Fritz Coon to announce updates at the fair.
Outgoing Fair Royalty Princesses Madison Melcher and Megan Buriak make their final appearance as fair royalty. The duo will also help welcome in the new royalty members for the upcoming fair.
An extensive list of auction items is sure to provide every resident in attendance with something to bid on.
Highlighted auction items include two tons of hay, a handcrafted rocking horse, Gonzaga basketball tickets, gourmet steak packages, farm and ranch supplies, Washington State University themed baskets, hand tooled leather items, homebrew beer kit, local business gift certificates, handmade quilts and a selection of themed baskets.
All of the auction items provided at the event are donated by local businesses and individuals who continually donate to support the Wheat Land Communities’ Fair.
The auction always provides a wide array of items, suitable for children and adults.
Between the silent and the live auction selection, the event is expected to continue to provide an excellent opportunity for community members to help fundraise for the local fair.
Wampum helps provide vital funds to keep the fair running and directly supports the Wheat Land Communities’ Fair on Labor Day weekend.
Tickets are $22 if purchased in advance and $25 at the door.
Tickets can be purchased at the Ritzville Drug Company, Java Bloom in Washtucna, and Jim’s Empire Market in Lind.
