The Lind-Ritzville/Sprague golf team traveled to Harrington to compete in the second league match of the season on Tuesday, March 21. With two members of the team gone on a school trip, the girls did not have enough players for a complete team, said Head Coach Nick Weishaar.
The boys who competed in the match were Michael Shields, Morgan Brausen, Spencer Gering, Easton Nelson, Dirk Dahlman and Devin Schafer.
Shields received the medalist title for the boys’ team with 42. Brausen scored a 49 and Dahlman followed close behind with a score of 50.
Nelson shot a 54 while Gering earned a score of 55. The boys claimed the win with a team score of 250.
For the girl’s team Ellie Gering, Brinley Moore and Aaliyah Yaeger were the athletes who competed in the match.
Gering earned a score of 64 and Moore and Yaeger both shot a 69.
Weishaar said he is proud with how the team competed despite the poor weather conditions and missing players. Shields displayed strong leadership by driving the ball well and assisting the new athletes in practice, he added.
The new Bronco athletes impressed Weishaar as he stated they showcased improvement in their knowledge, understanding and overall technique during the match.
He looks forward to having a complete team back in order to work on some basic fundamentals of the game in practice.
