Nancy (Edwards, Stimpson) Ludwick, 85, died peacefully in her sleep in Redmond, on Dec. 19. She is survived by her loving husband Ken and her many children, step-children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Born in Ritzville, March 22, 1931 to the Postmaster, Skee Edwards and Librarian, Audrey Edwards she grew up in Ritzville where she graduated from high school in 1949. She shared her musical talents on the trombone in the school band and sang in the chorus.
Her first cousin Marilyn lived across the street and was like a sister to her and they were friends for life. Marilyn now lives in Spokane. Nancy had a love of horses and competed in shows with her sorrel American Saddle bred mare Tic’s Copper Penney.
Nancy has two brothers: Samuel, who died in a Navy airplane accident in 1945, and Thomas who resides in Richland with his wife Kristie.
She married Jack Stimpson, (deceased, 1977) a school teacher and they settled in Bellevue, where they raised four children, Gail (Joe Pepper, daughters Shannon, Jaime and Cassie), Patrick (Debbie Langlois, daughter Audrey, sons Samuel and Jack), Kathy (Dean Ottomann, sons Evan and Dylan) and Gene (deceased 2014), (Lisa Strang, daughters Ashley and Hayley). Ken’s kids, Ruth Nevins, Marcie Diamond, Gary Ludwick and Ernie Ludwick (deceased) were added to the family when Nancy married Ken in 1998.
All told, she has 19 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Nancy worked as a medical assistant in Seattle’s Virginia Mason Clinic for many years where she relished in her role of helping people deal with medical issues.
She purchased a home in Friendly Village Mobile Home Park in Redmond where she enjoyed the friendship and social activities with many of the residents.
Little did she know that a white knight also lived in the park and that she would be swept off her feet by the man that she would share the rest of her life with, Ken Ludwick.
In 1998 they married and together they travelled through every state in the country, cruised many oceans of the world, played bridge and spent any available time at home with their many friends and family.
Family gatherings and great meals were frequent occasions at their mobile home. They enjoyed their life together and when not travelling kept busy with the activities of their combined eight children, multitudes of grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Nancy lived a full life as a wonderful, involved mother, beloved spouse and loyal longtime friend to many neighbors from Robinswood, in Bellevue. While she will be greatly missed by many, there is comfort in knowing that she is now at peace and with those family and friends that have passed before her.
Over the past year Nancy was a resident at Novelty Hill Adult Family Center in Redmond where Maria, and her wonderful staff, took amazing care of her with constant attention and love. The family is forever grateful for their support.
