Theodore “Ted” L. Hayes, 84, died in Moses Lake on Dec. 10.
Ted graduated high school in Spokane Valley and went to WSU and obtained his Bachelor’s Degree. After college and a couple of jobs, Ted decided he really wanted to farm.
So, he came to the Ritzville area to farm for Sonny Allert for a few years, then he went to work for Art Benzel and then for Bob Walli, spending 60 years farming for Benzel’s and Walli’s.
He was active in The Ritzville Eagles, Ritzville Bowling and Pool Leagues, Lions Club, American Legion, Ritzville Gun Club and he would attend any activity in town he could find.
He is preceeded in death by his parents and siblings. Ted is survived by his son and daughter in law Wes and Tami Hayes of Moses Lake and longtime friend Virginia Ingersoll of Arizona.
A Memorial service is planned for Tuesday, Dec. 20, at 2 p.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church in Ritzville and will be followed by a gathering of friends at the Eagles Lodge in Ritzville.
