Christmas Kickoff Weekend Dec. 2-4

The annual Ritzville Christmas Kickoff weekend occurs on Friday, Dec. 2, and Saturday, Dec. 3, throughout the City of Ritzville.

At 5:30 p.m. Friday, Mayor Gary Cook will have the honor of lighting the tree, followed by caroling at the tree around 5:45 p.m. The Christmas at the Carnegie lighting ceremony is being held at the Ritzville Public Library for the second year.

Local businesses are participating in a Shop Local campaign during the two-day event. The businesses’ specials for the holiday season will be listed in the Dec. 1 edition of The Journal.

The Ritzville Festivals Association is hosting the annual Christmas tree sale, beginning at 9:30 a.m. on Dec. 3. From 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday, the AAUW Holiday Bazaar is occurring at the Ritzville Grade School.

The free children’s movie matinee, Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas, is on Dec. 3. Doors open at 1:15 p.m. with the movie starting at 2 p.m. The Ritzville Fire Department will deliver Santa after the movie, where children will receive free treats.

On Dec. 4, area residents are invited to join the Ralston Grange in their annual celebration, beginning with a potluck at 5:30 p.m. in the Ralston Grange Hall.
