Walter Reimer

Walter Reimer was born on Feb. 18, 1920, near Hillsboro, Kansas, to Abraham and Katherine (Buller) Reimer. He died on Oct. 29.

His mother died when he was four years old, and at the age of 12, his father died leaving him and his eight siblings to be raised by their stepmother, Margaret Schmidt.

Walt was a member of the Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church near Goessel, KS. He attended a one-room school through 8th grade, after which he helped on the family farm until he was drafted at the end of 1942 to serve in World War II. He chose to serve in the Civilian Public Service (CPS).
