Eastern Adams County's Only Independent Voice Since 1887
Assisting students in advancing their technological skills this year is Steve Greenwalt, the new technology teacher at the Lind-Ritzville High School.
Greenwalt grew up in Ritzville and is grateful to have the opportunity to give back to his hometown community through his position at the school.
He attended Eastern Washington University (EWU) after high school to pursue a degree in business education. After graduating from EWU in 1999, Greenwalt earned a Master’s in professional development from Heritage University in 2001.
He and his wife, Amy Greenwalt spend most of their spare time supporting their daughters Grace, a freshman at Lind-Ritzville High School, and Ella, a fifth grade student at Ritzville Grade School in their after school activities.
Greenwalt said his classroom plan for this year is to receive Microsoft Office Specialist certification in order for students in first and second year technology classes to become certified in the use of the application programs in the Microsoft Office Suit.
He also plans on requesting new course approvals to the Washington State Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction Career Tech Educator program for approval for next school year.
Greenwalt expressed his excitement for having been given the opportunity to work with students on restarting the Future Business Leaders of America chapter at the high school.
The focus of the chapter this year is to provide a strong foundation for the next several years with an emphasis on community service and preparing students for competitions at the regional and the state level he explained.
Overall, Greenwalt said he is looking forward to advancing student’s technological skills while preparing them for academic success.
