Eastern Adams County's Only Independent Voice Since 1887
The 24th Annual East Adams County Healthcare Foundation Wine and Microbrew Tasting and Auction takes place on Saturday, Sept. 24, at the C.J. Newland American Legion Memorial Hall on Broadway Avenue beginning at 6 p.m. Tickets can be purchased for $30 at the door.
The theme for the evening event is “Margaritaville” and Classy Country Catering is providing the meal.
A full service bar with signature drinks, beer and wine is also provided at the event.
This year, the themed event encourages attendees to wear their beach attire in order to enhance the tropical atmosphere.
Dr. Warren Kragt is serving as the auctioneer and master of ceremonies for the event.
The event begins with an extensive silent auction that provides those in attendance with a variety of items to bid on. This year, the EACH Foundation has received a large amount of donations for the auction.
The live auction begins at 8 p.m. with an estimated 35 items available for purchase. Nearly 60 silent auction items are also available for purchase.
The auction items range from handmade items to trips throughout the Pacific Northwest. The wide array of donations also allows individuals to get a jump on their Christmas shopping by purchasing items that serve as great gifts.
The list of items includes a Rocky Coulee Party Bus experience and dinner for 14 people, Davenport Hotel packages, Kellogg, Idaho cabin weekend getaway, two truck loads of gravel, four course Mexican dinner for eight at the Corral Restaurant in Warden and a harvest lunch for eight people.
Live auction items also include Wildhorse Casino and Resort package, Northern Quest Casino package, Coeur d’Alene Casino package, one-year of advertising in the business directory in the Ritzville Journal, Pendleton Roundup tickets, yard name sign and a lap quilt.
Door prizes will also be distributed throughout the evening.
Every year, the EACH Foundation uses the funds raised at the auction to provide necessary upgrades for the hospital, clinic and the EMTs. The EACH Foundation received priority requests from each entity and does the best to provide them with the necessary equipment.
The most recent donations given by the Foundation include books for EMT classes, equipment upgrades for the Ritzville Fire Department, two anti-coag units to East Adams Rural Healthcare and physical therapy equipment for the current building in downtown Ritzville.
The board has also donated an AED and pack-up battery for the Ritzville EMTs, and an AED and battery for the Ritzville Volunteer Ambulance Association. The EMTs also received a donation of CPR instruction supplies and materials.
The Foundation also donated to the annual Health, Safety and Wellness Fair, held every year in September in downtown Ritzville. Additional donations this year included funds for personal protection equipment for the Ritzville Fire Department volunteers.
Other additions in the past have included a new x-ray table for the hospital that provides the hospital with advanced technology to help better serve their patients, and a CPR compression vest for the EMT staff to use.
The EACH Foundation also provides two scholarships annually to individuals pursuing a career in the medical field. The $1,000 Ronald W. Baumann Memorial scholarships are awarded to individuals pursuing an education in the healthcare field at the college level that live within the hospital district, covering the communities of Ritzville, Lind and Washtucna.
This is the sole fundraiser for the EACH Foundation, whose primary goals are to help serve Adams County Health District No. 2 and the residents of eastern Adams County. EACH Foundation is a nonprofit organization operating under the Internal Revenue Service designation of a 501 (c)(3). The funds raised at this event are spent inside the boundary of the health district.
