Sprenger retires from U.S. Air Force

Colonel Scott A. Sprenger retired from the United States Air Force after serving for 27 years and 10 months. A retirement ceremony was held at the Red Morgan Center, Fairchild Air Force Base on Monday, July 11.

He was the Pharmacy Consultant to the Air Force Surgeon General and Associate Chief for Pharmacy, Biomedical Services Corp.

He was the career mentor and professional advocate for more than 400 pharmacists and 1200 pharmacy technicians. His previous assignments included Wilford Hall Medical Center, Texas; Elmendorf AFB, Alaska; Travis AFB, California; Washington, D.C .; United States Air Force Academy, Colorado; Lackland AFB, Texas; and Eielson AFB, Alaska.

Colonel Sprenger graduated from Ritzville High School in 1977 and entered the Air Force in 1988 with a direct commission after graduating from Washington State University College of Pharmacy and four years of civilian pharmacy experience.

Following his initial assignment to Lackland Air Force Base, he completed his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Texas and was board certified in Pharmacotherapy.

He is married to Janet (Miller) Sprenger and they have one daughter, Aimee Heider; son-in-law, Gavin Heider; and two grandchildren, Henry and Emma. They currently reside in Medical Lake.
