Local fire districts respond to field, combine fires

Over this past week, the Eastern Adams County Fire Departments responded to two major fires resulting in the loss of two combines. The loss of the combines served as a tragedy to farmers due to what is suppose to be a very successful harvest this year.

The Ritzville Fire Department dispatched around 3:03 p.m. on Thursday, July 21 to a field fire located on Providence Road and Marcellus Road.

Ritzville County Fire Chief Scott Kembel said the fire started with a combine and destroyed about an acre of stubble and standing wheat in the field.
