Since the beginning of June, the Ritzville Police Department has responded to an estimated 25 calls relating to car prowls. Residents had personal items, cash and valuables taken from the vehicles because the vehicles remained unlocked, allowing the suspects to take what was inside.
Ritzville Police Chief Dave McCormick presented to the Ritzville City Council regarding the vehicle prowls. He put an emphasis on the need for residents to lock their vehicles, as it is a simple way to deter the thieves.
