Broncos compete in first golf match of the season

The Lind-Ritzville/Sprague Broncos golf team stepped onto the Ritzville Municipal Golf Course for the first match of the season on Tuesday, March 15, at 2 p.m. and hosted the Colfax Bulldogs and the Inchelium Hornets.

There were six Broncos participating in this match with Head Coach Nick Weishaar present for this league nine-hole match.

Colfax was the only team with enough boys to qualify for a team score. They won this by default with a team score of 228.

The boy’s medalist was Colfax’s Chance Weitz with a 38 and the girl’s medalist was McKenna Davis, also from Colfax, with a score of 42.

Michael Shields earned a score of 45 closely followed by Ryan Frederick with 47. Rounding out the boy’s team was Pake Taylor with a 64.

For the girls, Tessa Jantz received a 46. Morgan Lane shot a 68 and Mickayla Hall earned a score of 67.

Taylor and Hall are the only two of the new golfers to the team this year that participated in this match.

The other four Broncos are returning to the team.

In future matches Weishaar hopes to have his whole team present.

Patrick Bartz, Morgan Brausen and Kierstin Witt are also participating in golf this season.

The team competed in a league match on March 22 in Harrington and a nonleague match in St. John on March 24.

They will host a league match on Tuesday, March 29, at 2 p.m.
