Alfred Wiest

Alfred Wiest, 96, died on Wednesday morning Feb. 3 following a short illness.

Alfred was born May 15, 1919, in Kurudschika, Bessarabia (Romania), the eldest of six children born to Michael and Mary (Grams) Wiest.

At age six the family moved to Brazil, and 2.5 years later settled in Ralston. Alfred graduated in 1941 from Ritzville High School. Alfred saw action in WWII in the Battle of the Bulge.

On June 26, 1949, Alfred and Ruth Gross were married in Dryden. For the next eight years he worked in grain elevators in Paha, Hartline and Odessa. In 1957 the family moved to Odessa where Alfred resid...
