Missoula Children’s Theatre production of Rumpelstiltskin Friday in Ritzville

Students from Ritzville Grade School and Lind-Ritzville High School are set to perform “Rumpelstiltskin” as part of the Missoula Children’s Theatre on Friday, Feb. 5.

There are two performances of the play, with the first one starting at 1:30 p.m. in the Ritzville Grade School gym. The second performance begins at 6 p.m. in the same location.

Admission to the play is $3 for students and seniors, and $5 for adults.

The play is an original adaptation of the classic children’s story, and follows the adventures of a strange gnome.

The play includes a festival while the character of Clara attempts to guess the mischievous gnome’s name.

During the performance, Kristen Shaw is playing the role of Rumpelstilskin. Michael Carruth plays the Jester, while Morgan Lane performs as Queen Beatrice. Brock Kinch performs as King Whatsat, and Jessa Hoeft plays Old Clara while Rose Roettger steps into the role of Young Clara.

There are two knights in the performance, and the actors playing these roles are Traye Redburn and Shawn Steinberger. The actors playing Gnomes in the performance are Brody Boness, Ashleigh Swartz, Ireana Goodman, Ella Greenwalt, Olivia Balfe, Alayna Kiel, Addy Colbert, Saige Galbreath, Hannah Towne and Jackson Nichols.

The students playing the roles of the Wizards are Davine Shergill, Kemper Smith, Trever Bailey, Willow Rountree, Lynzi Gaede and Chloe Hoeft.

Savannah Carruth, Brix Curtis, Phaedra Hickey, McKenna Smith, Kelianne Swartz, Joey Youngs, Cameron Boness, Gavin Berumen, Micah Verhey, Madison Bartlett, Conner McAnally, Carson Kubik, JP McAnally, Arienna Bernal, Hunter Green, Travis Redburn and Aeowyn Armstrong perform the Villagers.

In the roles of Bees are Leland Bowman, Owen York, Ryan Erdman, Rhowan Armstrong, Pete Spain, Karsten Stokoe, Kyler Huss and Allesandra Mendez.

Alice Gittins is the Minstrel, while John Siedenberg II serves as Director. Michael Nichols and Levi Hoeft are the Assistant Directors.

MCT, the nation’s largest touring children’s theatre, has been touring extensively for more than 40 years now from Montana to Japan, and visits nearly 1,200 communities a year with up to 44 teams of Tour Actor/Directors.

A tour team arrives in a given town with a set, lights, costumes, props and make-up, everything it takes to put on a play, except the cast.

All MCT shows are original adaptations of classic children’s stories and fairytales with a major twist on the classic stories.
