Drama, Music deserve recognition

Compliments to the drama students at the recent performance of “Mmmbeth.” They brought Shakespeare alive amidst witchery, idiocy and just plain old fashioned fun. I thoroughly enjoyed the play and am certain those thespians worked countless hours memorizing their lines.

Just wondering, where was the Ritzville Journal? There’s more to education at LRS than sports (though I’m a huge fan of athletics). And where are photos of the pep band members? There are some very talented, dedicated musicians in the band. Students, whether participating in drama, music, sports, or FFA, learn significant values in these activities, including responsibility, teamwork, discipline and courage.

If you, the taxpayers and stewards of this community, could only comprehend the positive results of our youth’s involvement in these activities, you would realize how our tax dollars are necessary for their development. That includes: excellent teachers, dedicated administrators and improving our current facilities, which leads me to encourage you, for the sake of our children and community, to vote “Yes” for the school levies.

Marsha Smith, Ritzville
