Bryden Laird, 2015 Lind-Ritzville High School graduate, has been named to the President’s List Honor Roll at Walla Walla Community College (WWCC) for the 2015 Fall Quarter.
Students on the President’s List must achieve a 3.85 grade point average (GPA) or higher while maintaining a full-time schedule. The full-time schedule includes 15 credits or more within a program area exclusive to remedial courses and cooperative work experience credits.
Laird is currrently enrolled in the college’s Welding Technology program and he is working toward an Associate’s Degree.
Laird said, “Welding relaxes me. Michael Haggard, my main instructor is very smart. He knows his subject and he knows how to teach. He gives me tips and they work.”
Laird’s welding technical training complies with American Welding Society standards and is designed to increase his understanding of welding and the related science, meets employers’ expectations, and help Laird compete in the employment marketplace.
The Welding Technology degrees at WWCC center begin with early morning classwork and then practical experience in welding labs.
Laird said of his early class last quarter, “I took Engineering 111 which started with drafting on paper. Then we went on to AutoCAD. I really enjoyed it. I love it at WWCC!”
