Caring about the Super Bowl

Sunday was a sad day for the 12’s. We really had our hopes set on a big victory over the Carolina Panthers. We were in such better physical shape than the first time we played those guys a few months ago in Seattle that most everyone was confident.

The game turned quickly and the Hawks were down early 14-0. In order for a victory to happen the Hawks needed to score early. That wasn’t to be.

But we Seahawks fans still need to be proud of the way these heroes fought back in the second half after a demoralizing 31-0 end to the first half.

Maybe if we had gotten something on the board late in the second quarter we may have seen the light at the end of the tunnel much earlier than the middle to late parts of the fourth quarter.

We’ve been through a lot since the boys from the Emerald City won it all in New Jersey in 2014.

These last two seasons have been amazing roller coaster rides that scared a lot of us into wondering if the magic was gone.

But then big victories late in the season and an unlikely victory over Minnesota and all was right in the world.

It was also promising with the Arizona win Saturday night. Had Green Bay and Seattle both won this weekend the NFC Championship game would have been played in Green Bay.

As cold as it has been and how cold it can get in Packerville it looked like the stars would align in favor of the Seahawks with a victory over Carolina.

Well, we all know how the rest of the game played out and we are now wondering how next season will play out.

There are some quality players coming back to Seattle next season. There will also be some that will be moving on to other teams or retiring.

I hope you realize that this has been a good run and that it takes a lot of good fortune to keep it going. I hope it will.

Do you remember who played in the Super Bowl the year before Seattle and Denver battled in New Jersey?

It was the Baltimore Ravens defeating the San Francisco 49ers in the Superdome.

I look at this thinking, I would rather be the Seattle Seahawks than the Ravens or the 49ers. The fall that these two once great teams took has been quick.

The 49ers just hired Chip Kelly to coach the team. This is the second hiring since Jim Harbaugh left the club after the 2014 season.

As much talent that left the 49ers through retiring for fear of concussions it was most likely tough to find replacements for the departed players.

I believe the Seattle Seahawks have another run in them as long as the right pieces are in place.

Will valuable players be resigned or not: Will the Hawks find a couple of studs in the later rounds that they can groom cheaply and play Pro-Bowl style football?

What would also be kind of cool is if all of the teams in the NFL had to travel as many miles as the Seahawks do on a yearly basis.

I know that wouldn’t be fair or at least that is what those teams would say. We do know one trip is going to be much shorter as the St. Louis Rams will be moving back to Los Angeles. That will be a bit of help.

Now that the Seahawks have been eliminated from the Super Bowl tournament who would you like to see play in the big game?

I would like to see an Arizona Cardinals versus Denver Broncos matchup. I guess I would rather see those two teams play than the other two teams.

After that I really don’t care who wins. Just make it a good game. And that is about as much caring that I want to put up with.
