Ritzville PD investigates suicide downtown

Three officers from the Ritzville Police Department responded to a call regarding a man on the sidewalk of North Division Street with what appeared to be a gunshot to the head on Dec. 24 at 12:06 a.m.

The Adams County Sheriff’s Office also assisted with the investigation.

The officers responded to Division Street near Broadway Avenue and discovered Brian Malliot, 42, of Spokane.

The Ritzville EMTs transported Malliot to East Adams Rural Hospital with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. He later died at the hospital and the next of kin were notified.

The incident has been ruled a suicide by the Adams County Prosecutor and Coroner.
