Barbara J (Snider) Steinmetz

Barbara J (Snider) Steinmetz, 64, died November 3, after a courageous battle with pneumonia. She died peacefully in Ritzville.

She was born October 2, 1951 in Spokane, the daughter of Jimmie and Glenna (Hawkins) Snider.

After graduating from Ritzville High School in 1970, Barbara attended WSU and Kinman Business College.

She worked at Snider Trucking as a bookkeeper/secretary for 40 years until retiring this past spring.

In 1980 she married David Steinmetz, and with him she inherited two children: Scott Steinmetz and Angela (Steinmetz) Melcher.

Barbara was a very quiet woman, but was fiercely loyal to her family and friends. She loved to watch all sporting events, anything from grandchildren to professional and she and David liked to fish, hike, camp, garden and travel.

Barbara was preceded in death by her father, Jimmie Snider.

Surviving is her mother Glenna Snider of Pomeroy; her husband of 35 years, David; children Scott Steinmetz and Angela (Rob) Melcher; her brother Jeff (Cathy) Snider all of Ritzville, and sister Connie (Jim) Waldher of Pomeroy; together with five grandchildren; 2 great grandsons and numerous nieces and nephews.

To honor Barbara’s wishes, there will not be a memorial service or viewing. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Ritzville Bronc Boosters, P.O. Box 422, Ritzville, or Adams County Pet Rescue, P.O. Box 311, Ritzville.
