Eastern Adams County's Only Independent Voice Since 1887
For one year now the Ritzville Public Library has been running a library branch out of Lind-Ritzville Middle School. This began in October 2014.
The Library Board implemented this branch to provide more services to the Lind community.
In 2000 the Ritzville Library District No. 2 officially formed, transferring the Library from the City of Ritzville to the District so as to ensure library services for the areas surrounding Ritzville.
This branch is open every Tuesday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. and offers books, DVDs, magazines and CDs for check out plus the access to free computers.
They additionally implemented weekly programs for kids such as the Lego Club, craft days and family story time.
These events rotate and will be posted on the library’s Facebook page as well as the Ritzville Public Library’s website at: http://ritzvillelibrary.com.
Any student can receive a free library card so they can make full use of the library hours available in Lind. Additionally if a parent living within the Lind town limits would like a library card it is a lifetime fee of $20.
Currently the Lind Library branch is averaging about 25 people per week.
Library Director Kylie Fullmer stated, “Having 25 people come over a two hour period isn’t a bad turnout but I would love to see more people come and use the branch.”
The Library also offers to citizens the opportunity to reserve a book, DVD, CD or magazine and Fullmer will bring the item to Lind with her on Tuesdays.
Lind-Ritzville Middle School Librarian Mary Hernandez and Fullmer are available to help those who come into the library.
Fullmer also brings about 100 books every week to Lind with her so there are rotating options for every genre.
The Lind-Ritzville Cooperative School District have been very supportive of the library branch by posting on their Facebook page each week and sending flyers home with their students.
Currently, the Lind Branch is only open on Tuesdays and the Library stated that in order to implement more days they would need to see the demand for it, but if they did they would be happy to be open more.
